Currency
Currency
The currency in Canada is the Canadian dollar. Please note that the exchange rate fluctuates daily. For current exchange rates, please click here.
When making major purchases, charging items to your credit card is always recommended. The exchange rate on your credit card will be more favorable than the rate available locally. This is due to the large volume of foreign exchange generated by credit card companies at the more favorable "inter-banking" exchange rate. The better rate is then passed along to the customer.
Most major credit cards are accepted in Canada. It is best to call your bank before leaving the country to advise of international travel dates on any card you plan to use while out of the country.
There is an ATM at the hotel. USD is not accepted in Canada, but can be used for tipping.
Electricity
Electricity
The electricity standard in Canada is 120V/60hz, the same standard as in the United States. A voltage converter is not needed if you are traveling from the United States. If you are traveling from outside the United States, please ensure you have the necessary converter.
